A VISION OF THE CENTER

(We are Building This With Help From Our Friends)

The Awakening Center is meant to be a proving ground, a sanctuary, where individuals and groups can come to explore possibilities and evolve themselves, taking the skills they have learned back to their own locations to teach and spread the evolution.

Many functions and projects will be on the location from staff to support physical, emotional, mental and spiritual growth and healing of the individual to a think tank to explore various possibilities for new institutions, new healing techniques and new technologies all in harmony with nature.

We have been guided to seek a location in the mountains so that the distractions of populated areas are eliminated and the energies of nature are available to assist the individual and groups reconnect to all that is.

The following is a thumbnail sketch of what we seek to build with your help.

As you turn off the mountain road onto The Awakening Center grounds you see a tree-lined country lane that meanders back into the woods and toward the mountains in the distance. You drive under a large arch with a sign across the top that says, "Come To The Center Within." As you proceed down the lane you hear bird sounds and water running nearby and see squirrels and other wildlife scampering across the lane and around you. The trees are vibrant and what flowers you see are brilliant. Wild flowers are everywhere.

Soon you see two buildings that are so attuned to their surroundings that you do not notice them until you are almost by them. On one side is a Shop where excess fresh herbs and vegetables from heirloom seeds grown on the property can be purchased. Also, wool products produced by Native Americans and others using the wool of the Jacobs sheep on the property are available. With these items are other Native crafts and other things of metaphysical orientation such as books, incenses and essential oils made on the property. Everything is sold at a reasonable price to assist the Center in doing its work. On the other side is a Teaching and Healing Clinic led by a Board Certified Doctor with training in holistic forms of healing and specialists in various areas such as hypnosis, nutrition, herbology, energy work, Reiki, Chios and other forms of balancing modalities for total healing. As you pass, you see shaded parking areas and picnic tables behind each building and people enjoying them. This shop and clinic and the picnic areas are for the enjoyment of those living around the Center as well as the Center's guests.

Continuing down the lane, you see a fence of local stone with a large wrought iron gate and a gatehouse. As you approach, a welcoming individual comes out and greets you. After you go through the gate, you see parking areas on either side of the lane. You are to leave your cell phone, laptop computer and watch, if you have them, either in the car or in the gatehouse. They will be quite safe since there is always someone living in the gatehouse to watch over the area. You drive on and park. As you unload your luggage, a Center staff person arrives in a cart and assists you with your luggage. You will be taken to the Center's center where you will begin to find the center of you.

As you ride leisurely along in the cart, you can still hear the water and the animals. It is very peaceful here. Everything looks healthy and alive. As you deeply breath in the fresh, clean air you feel yourself releasing the tensions of your world. Somewhere in the distance you hear the sound of contented sheep and the neighing of horses.

You come around a bend and see a large house. To one side is a horse barn. As you approach the house you notice there are gardens on either side of the front. They are beautiful. There is the scent of lilac, lavender and herbs wafting on the breeze which indicates more gardens nearby.

You get out of the cart and your assistant will help you with your luggage if you wish. You walk across the long, covered porch with its rockers and hanging swings and step up to the large double doors and open them. Before you is a great room with a huge fireplace large enough to hold a Yule log. The floor is polished wood, warm and worn. There is a cathedral ceiling with skylights that warm the wood and make the room feel comfortable. The comfortable chairs are scattered around in groups or as individual pieces. This is not a hotel lobby, it is indeed a "living room" where much happens.

In the corner you see a grand piano and guitars hanging on the wall. There are also various types of drums beside the piano.

To one side you see someone sitting at a rolltop desk smiling at you. They wave you over. When you arrive at the desk, you are given your lodging location, a map of the property, this building, and the trails in the surrounding woods and mountains. Depending on the nature of your visit; long or short term, for classes, a seminar, an arbitration/negotiation session, research, healing and relaxation, participation in the parent/child camps or whatever your individualized needs are, your lodging may be in different areas of the structure or in other structures.

You discover that the house is really only the front of a large twelve-sided building. Looking out toward the back in the open area to the left of the fireplace you see the open center of the building. It is domed with lush gardens in it. It appears much like the Conservatories you have heard of in Victorian homes, just bigger.

Your host begins your tour. You are led toward the right side of the fireplace and as you approach you see that there is an opening into a large farm kitchen before you and a dining room to your right. You are shown where things are kept in the kitchen so that you may help yourself. The cook nods hello while busily kneading bread dough. There will be regular meals provided; however, the Center realizes that when you are healing and balancing your dietary requirements can change drastically and any necessary accommodations will be provided. Since you have already provided the Center with any special dietary needs, you are shown where those supplies for you are kept. You also see bowls of fruit in the dining room just as you saw them in the living area. As you look around you also notice a breakfast nook where several people appear to be having an intense conversation. They glance up, smile and wave hello. You see more of the gardens and a labyrinth through the large window over the sink and through the glass doors in the nook.

Moving through the dining area, your host guides you to big double doors in the far wall. These doors, to your surprise, lead to a large sun-lit game room with everything from pool and ping pong tables to video and computer games. There are shelves of board games and game tables. The tiled floor has a shuffleboard and hopscotch laid in it and further down there is a long, narrow colored strip that you recognize as a fencing strip and you see the equipment hanging beside it. To your left are French doors leading out to the gardens. To your right are French doors beyond which you can see a large playground with swings, slides and other equipment. Upstairs, you are told, is an arts and crafts room containing supplies and equipment ranging from a kiln to canvas and paints. At the opposite side are more doors leading to the rooms for those doing innerchild work or for anyone who just wants to play as a form of relaxation and healing.

Returning through the dining and living rooms, you are led to the other side of the fireplace and, looking right and behind, you see stairs going up behind it. That is where some of the on-call staff and the head of the Center are. You are led through a hallway that is to the left of the living area and accessible from there. You are shown into a two-story library with books everywhere. There are window seats and other overstuffed chairs with appropriate lighting as well as library tables in the center of the room. The procedures for removing books are explained in case you wish to read in your room or the gardens. The doors on the opposite wall lead to the staff offices. You are then led back through the hallway. The doors you see are rooms where other on-call staff members can be found, should you require their assistance.

As you reenter the living area you are greeted by one of your counselors. They will take you to your accommodations and complete your tour of the Center. Your bags have already been taken to your room so you are free to follow and get your bearings. The counselor begins by leading you into the center gardens and begins to explain the purpose and many facets of the Center.
