My blogs will have the monthly numerology and anything else I think may be of interest. Why are we here? To demonstrate that even "spiritual" people can work together for the greater good
As described in Manual for the Soul, A Guide to the Energies of Life, the 260 day cycle that forms the foundation for the Mayan Calendar is comprised of 20 trecenas (weeks), each containing 13 days. Within Mayan Calendrics each of the days represents a unique energy with a special meaning. Each of the trecenas has a theme, with the name of the trecena being reflective of the first day of the time frame.
The Chikchan Trecena: February 10-22, 2012
While “storms” of all kinds raged throughout the Kawak (storm) trecena in January, it seems that the patrons of the Eb’ trecena (which began on Jan. 28th) decided, this time through, to use their generative powers in unusual ways. Instead of triggering renewed vitality, as often occurs at this time, the complete opposite occurred in Europe, as a major deep freeze set in across that region on the first day of that 13-day period, and brought everything to a stand-still. This might be seen as a classic “shadow” representation, where the potential of this energy appears to have been reversed in that part of the world. The moistness and “freshness” that often accompanies that energy apparently “seized up”, almost as if something had prevented it from being released, and thus the freeze that paralyzed the region, even freezing up the canals of Venice.
Given the power-push that has often come with the Chikchan trecena in the past, this may be the energy that finally triggers the release of winter’s icy grip in that area. Traditionally associated with the theme of Emergence and Liberation, the Chikchan trecena is often quite dynamic. One Chikchan, the first day of this 13-day time frame, is situated at the point within the 260 day cycle of the Tzolk’in (Count of Days) that marks the start of the third 52-day period, representative of a key position within the overall cycle. Often a sense of great passion and intensity comes into play at this time, as this highly transformative power brings an alignment with such things as justice, liberation, and even the triumph of lifeforce over death. This emphasis on re-emergence often precipitates events that can be world-shifting in nature, as in the adoption of the U.S. Declaration of Independence on the ninth day of this trecena in 1776. These transformations often can be quite radical–and wrenching–as was the situation for the Aztecs when they were forced to surrender to the Spanish conquistadores in Tenochtitlan (Mexico City) on One Chikchan in 1521.
Representative of the “initiation of Liberation/Higher Knowledge”, or even the “initiation of a new energy force”, One Chikchan can sometimes kickstart bold new endeavors, as seen when Amelia Earhart began her solo flight across the Atlantic under this influence in 1932. Often this can bring an infusion of positive energy that can help to lift the darkness, as when the world’s largest relief effort (unprecedented at that time) got underway on One Chikchan in December of 2004 to help victims of the South Asian tsunami. Often infused by a strong sense of “mission”, this energy holds great potential to lift spirits or shed light on new possibilities, as perceived by millions at the time when John F. Kennedy gave his victory speech under this influence after he won the 1960 presidential election, during which he pledged his devotion “to the cause of freedom around the world”. As the forthcoming U.S. election will take place under the influence of this same Chikchan trecena it will be interesting to see how this energy will influence the events that will unfold exactly one Tzolk’in cycle from now.
Other major events that have occurred under the influence of this “Lifeforce and Liberation” oriented trecena include the inauguration of George Washington as first President of the United States, in 1789, after being unanimously voted in; the empassioned demonstration by 15,000 working women when they marched through New York to protest against low pay, poor working conditions, and child labour, in 1908; the German invasion of Belgium, and Britain’s declaration of war against Germany in 1914, at the beginning of World War I; the conclusion of WW I in 1918, precisely six Tzolk’in cycles after it began; the establishment of the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA), in 1958; the signing of a treaty by 70 nations, under the sponsorship of the U.N. in 1972, that prohibits the stockpiling of biological weapons; the election of Nelson Mandela as the first democratically elected State President of South Africa, in 1994; and major worldwide anti-war protests in 2005.
Due to the strength of the energetic forces associated with this trecena, it is not unusual to see strong weather-related events, with such things as tropical storms, hurricanes, or tornadoes coming in around the time of the fourth day (4 Lamat), as has occurred in recent years. However, many powerful events of this nature often make their appearance towards the end of the trecena as well. Last year the huge Wallow Fire that consumed over 500,000 acres in Arizona began at the 4 Lamat point and continued thoughout the trecena (and well beyond).
It is highly likely that this 13-day period will bring forth a new surge of energy to help Europe with the thaw, and a number of important developments could be brought forward to help in resolving the crisis in Syria. During this time frame these are the energies that will come into play (days of particular importance are highlighted in red):
1 Chikchan (Feb. 10th) – the “initiation” of Lifeforce/Higher Wisdom at the start of the third 52-day period within the 260-day cycle, a highly influential position within the overall cycle
2 Kimi (Feb. 11th) – a dynamic type of energy aligned with “death” or the “return to source”; this year this coincides with the first day of Carnevale in Venice
3 Manik’ (Feb. 12th) – the “activation” of reciprocity; the energy of the deer – a kind of harmonizing energy connected with the natural world
4 Lamat (Feb. 13th) – a “defining” energy associated with Venus, which can serve as a beacon or herald; often aligned with significant wind-related weather events
5 Muluk (Feb. 14th) – a “blessing” of water energy that correlates with Valentine’s Day this year
6 Ok (Feb. 15th) – this “fire everywhere” or even “love everywhere” force provides a nice follow-up (or even extension?) to Valentine’s Day
7 Chuwen (Feb. 16th) – “self-generating play” – a highly creative “time weaving” type of energy that can sometimes conjure up things of an unusual nature, as when the Eiffel Tower and its surroundings were evacuated due to a bomb scare on a 7 Chuwen day in 2010
8 Eb’ (Feb. 17th) – the “resurrection” of the pathfinding energy of vitality, associated with the “dew of life”; a day which the Maya devote to the Celebration of Personal Life; this day also coincides with the “seating” of the “turtle” month known as K’ayab’, which is associated with both the earth and the young Moon Goddess
9 B’en (Feb. 18th) – the “outward projection of “personal authority”; the birth energy of Barack Obama which took place precisely 260 Tzolk’in cycles after the adoption of the U.S. Declaration of Independence in 1776; also the birth energy of Charles Dickens, whose works so vividly highlight 19th century social injustices
10 Ix (Feb. 19th) – a “source” based energy associated with the jaguar and the mysteries of the earth, which manifested last year with the eruption of Chile’s Puyehue volcano for the first time since 1960, sending a thick plume of smoke and ash 10 km. high and forcing the evacuation of 3500 people
11 Men (Feb. 20th) – “inspirational Eagle” – this is a Burner Day associated with “extinguishing the fire”, an energy that can bring change or a new form of Higher Vision in preparation for something new; as this day correlates with President’s Day in the U.S. this year perhaps something will appear on this day that may be pertinent to the November presidential election, which will take place precisely one Tzolk’in cycle from now
12 Kib’ (Feb. 21st) –this “gathering together” type of energy, associated with the ability to “survey” and ultimately restore order, coincides this year with both Mardi Gras and the last day of Venice’s Carnevale, at the time of the New Moon; given these events, the emphasis may be primarily on the "gathering together” aspect of this energy
13 Kab’an (Feb. 22nd) – transformational movement (or earth movement), a powerful force that can bring either heavy weather conditions, or significant “movement” of an evolutionary nature; on its last appearance this energy brought forth a massive coronal ejection, referred to as the “biggest eruption ever seen” on the sun, which caused distortions to the Earth’s magnetic field and a large display of northern and southern lights. This year this day coincides with the Maya New Year in several places in Guatemala, making this the beginning of the Maya year known as 13 Kab’an in those regions – not to confused with the Classic Maya New Year (Tikal system) which comes in this year in early April (in some regions some of the months do not correlate exactly with those in the Classical dating system, likely due to disruptions at the time of the Spanish conquest).
